One of the most challenging parts of this project was the storefront. Due to budget constraints, a complete demolition of the current storefront and a new installation was not part of the program, and the local permitting requirements would have taken too long.

The initial strategy was to keep the existing facade and repair/repaint as required. After a detailed study with my general contractor, we concluded that the current façade was in terrible condition - worse than initially thought. We needed to find a new solution.

 

To solve the problem, we decided to keep the existing store structure, including the glass, and clad over the metal parts.
